__________

Ray Behm, born 1952 in Luxembourg made his professional career in the world of finance first, and in the property market afterwards. The first sport he practiced was running, finishing races of up to 100km. Later he discovered triathlon, where he was one of the pioneers in Luxembourg.
There started a true passion for cycling, and for a few years he competed in cyclosportive races in France. In alpinism he took up the challenge of the Seven Summits, consisting in climbing the highest mountain on every continent. Ray Behm summited all of them, except Everest where bad weather conditions turned him back. Ray Behm crossed a part of Antarctica to the South Pole, and one year later he reached the North Pole. From Luxembourg he walked 2000 km on an ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. He crossed the Himalayas on a mountain bike from Tibet to Nepal, and the USA on a racing bike, competing in the Race Across America. A bicycle journey to Egypt had an abrupt ending in Syria, where Ray Behm was arrested and imprisoned for eight days. He describes this experience in his book: Welcome to Syria.

One year later he traveled from Luxembourg to Beijing, on the tracks of Marco Polo. During this journey he crossed Kyrgyzstan on horseback and China on bicycle.

In the present book, Ray Behm relates his latest travel: A six month journey on a motorbike through all the countries of the American double-continent.
